India market entry
India is not one market. Launch like it isn't.
On 15 July 2026 the India-UK trade agreement came into force, and the commercial case for selling into India changed overnight. The marketing case did not. India is many languages, many regions and many buying cultures, and work built for one of them does not travel to the others. We build launches that are native in every market they run in.
What changed
The tariff moved. The hard part did not.
CETA cut duty on Scotch whisky and gin from 150% to 75%, falling to 40% over ten years. Beauty and cosmetics duties fell from 30% to 10%. A wave of UK brands now has a reason to be in India.
Tariff savings are not price cuts
State excise, distribution margins, label registration and logistics all remain. Very little of that duty saving reaches the shelf. Brands that treat CETA as "we are cheaper now" will find out expensively that price does not build preference in a market that has never heard of them.
One country, many markets
A campaign that performs in Mumbai can be invisible in Coimbatore. Language, idiom, humour, casting and cultural reference all change. Subtitling an English film is not entering India. It is entering one part of India and hoping.
Volume is the real barrier
Doing India properly means many versions of everything, across languages, regions, channels and retail formats. Most agencies price that as many separate projects. That is what makes market entry look unaffordable. It is a production problem, and production problems have engineering answers.
What we do about it
One idea. Made native everywhere it runs.
We fix the platform idea centrally and flex everything cultural per market. Native voice, native casting, native type, in every language. One team owns the standard from concept to final local cut, so local relevance never becomes brand drift.
Strategy and positioning for India
What your brand means here, who it is for, and what it has to overcome. The Indian consumer is not a version of the British one, and a positioning that travelled from London usually needs rebuilding, not translating.
- Market positioning
- Category strategy
- Naming and narrative
Launch creative and film
The idea, and the films that carry it, designed for localisation before the shoot rather than subtitled after it. Casting, scenes and lines chosen because they can adapt, not because they only sing in English.
- Brand films
- Campaign platforms
- Retail and trade
Production at Indian scale
Where market entry usually breaks. We run film as a standing engine rather than a series of quotes, which is how volume becomes affordable and how the two hundred and fiftieth asset holds the standard of the first.
- 10+ languages
- Always-on content
- Personalization at scale
Distribution and measurement
Where the work runs and what it moved. Including channels a UK marketer may not have planned for, such as WhatsApp, which reaches Indian consumers at a scale and intimacy email never will.
- Media and social
- WhatsApp and messaging
- Outcome reporting

How it works
What an India entry looks like with us.
Read the market
Which parts of India your category actually lives in, who buys it, what they currently use, and what will have to change for them to choose you.
Build the idea to travel
One platform, designed from the start to be made native rather than translated. We agree what is fixed and what flexes before anything is produced.
Produce at volume
Films, content and retail assets in every language and format the launch needs, through one engine rather than a chain of vendors.
Run it and report it
Distribution across media, social and messaging, and reporting in the terms your board uses, not impressions.
Questions, answered
What does the India-UK trade agreement mean for UK brands?
CETA came into force on 15 July 2026. Duty on Scotch whisky and gin fell from 150% to 75%, falling to 40% over ten years. Beauty and cosmetics duties fell from 30% to 10%. The commercial case for selling into India improved sharply for many UK categories. The marketing problem did not change: India is many markets, not one.
Why is marketing in India different?
India is not a single market. It is many languages, regions and buying cultures. Work built for one of them does not travel to the others. A campaign that performs in Mumbai can be invisible in Coimbatore. Entering India properly means building one idea and making it native in every market it runs in, not translating it after the fact.
Will the tariff cut make my product cheaper in India?
Not automatically. Indian state excise, distribution margins, label registration and logistics all remain. Tariff savings rarely pass through to shelf price in full. The brands that win will spend that headroom on demand creation rather than discounting, because price alone does not build a brand in a market that does not know you yet.
Who does Hoopla work with?
Bayer, PepsiCo, Syngenta, P&G, Godrej, Corteva, Le Creuset and the Gates Foundation, across four continents. Hoopla is an independent creative and marketing company, sixteen years old, headquartered in Hyderabad with hubs in the United States and Dubai.
How quickly can a campaign go live in India?
Brief to first cut is a 48-hour rhythm for reactive and always-on work. A full market-entry launch runs on a longer strategy and production timeline, but the production engine itself is built for speed and volume rather than one-off projects.
